United States of America
The United States of America was an immensely important government of the pre-warp era of Earth. Starting in 1988, the country would remain a viable and independent player all through the formation of the United Earth government in 2130. At times, the US would subsume some political control over it's space and technological assets to alliances or other organizations: in 2002, it formed the Western Alliance in order to better acquire such assets and in 2018, when the Alliance formerly became an agency within the New United Nations (NUN), the US continued to support the military role, but kept NASA independent. Following the first collapse of the NUN during WWIII (2053), the US took administrative control of the International Space Agency, in order to protect those orbital assets from the effects of the devastation on the ground; the agency was relinquished upon the resurrection of the NUN in 2065.
The US was fully committed to a united & planetary face to alien visitors to the Sol system and was a major partner in the United Earth Defense Pact (UEDP) (formed in 2069) and in the formations of the United Earth Space Probe Agency (2067) and the UEDP's United Earth Defense Force and United Earth Stellar Navy. When the Central African States called for the official formation of a unified planetary government in the late 2120s, the US was a solid propoent and in 2130 was one of the first signers of the Traité d'Unification.
