Historical Events

• The last ships of the Hopkins class are retired.

• The last vessels of the Poseidon heavy cruiser class are retired.

• Crew training for the Clark class 'space tanks' ceases.

• The Capitol class command ships undergo engine overhauls.

• The Broadway class cultural exchange ships undergo engine overhauls.

• Late: The design elements for the new light cruiser are determined and a new model quickly approved.

• The United Federation of Planets makes first contact with Betazed.

Background material is per the Star Trek Roleplaying Game, Book 7: Worlds. The source indicates contact was made with "the nascent Federation", meaning sometime soon after 2161. I chose this year, to recognize a special reason for 2273 (100th anniversary of first contact) being the year of admission.

• The Vulcans establish a colony on Nisus.
