Historical Events
- January: The Imperial Senate of the Romulan Star Empire broadcasts its ratification of the Treaty of Peace on all subspace frequencies. The message is picked up by Federation starships along the border, and the treaty terms go into immediate effect. After 29 years of piratical attacks and declared hostilities, the Romulan War is finally over after staggering losses on both sides.[1]
- USS Emden is scrapped relatively soon after peace is declared.[2]
- May 24th: USS Cavalier (ND-626, Cavalry class) is shot to pieces well after the official declaration of ceasefire and limps to a crash lands onto an unexplored, barely M-class world.[3]
- August 12: The Articles of the Federation are signed by United Earth, the Confederacy of Vulcan, the Andorian Empire, Tellar, and Alpha Centauri in San Francisco, officially establishing the existence of the United Federation of Planets.[4][5][6]
- The Iceland class destroyers are pressed into patrolling the newly-established Neutral Zone.[7]
- The UFP Starfleet is founded, as well as the Committee for Starfleet.[4][5][8]
- Starfleet Academy is established in San Francisco. [5]
- The role of desperation in Earth’s starflight programs is greatly reduced, and specieism is receding as well.[8]
- The first of the remaining first flight Cavalries is sold to member navies of the UFP.[3]
- USS Parakeet becomes the flagship of the UFP as a result of the post-war overhauls or refitting of larger cruisers.[2]
