Star Fleet Medical
Star Fleet Medical is the department of Star Fleet that deals with all medical and clinical matters. All medical doctors, surgeons, nurses, and medics operate under the authority of the Surgeon General and the San Francisco-based bureau. The overarching mission of all four corps (and one research office) is to save lives-within the fleet and the frontier of the Federation-through cutting edge medicine, techniques and technology. While not operating any starships or facilities directly, it is Star Fleet Medical's responsibility to ensure the medical staff of all those assets are the best-trained and most well-equipped professionals their patients deserve.
The Surgeon General of Star Fleet is an Admiral, while the Deputy Surgeon General of Star Fleet is a Vice Admiral.
