Star Fleet Medical
Star Fleet Medical is the department of Star Fleet that deals with all medical and clinical matters. All medical doctors, surgeons, nurses, and medics operate under the authority of the Surgeon General and the San Francisco-based bureau. The overarching mission of all four corps is to save lives-within the fleet and the frontier of the Federation-through cutting edge medicine, techniques and technology. While not operating any starships or facilities directly, it is Star Fleet Medical's responsibility to ensure the medical staff of all those assets are the best-trained and most well-equipped professionals their patients deserve.
The Surgeon General of Star Fleet is an Admiral, while the Deputy Surgeon General of Star Fleet is a Vice Admiral.

The three primary corps of Star Fleet Medical (Medical, Nurse, Medic) comprise the highly trained specialists needed to provide the medical support necessary for Star Fleet's personnel, as well as the recipients of the Federation's frontier aid. The command of the Medical Corps falls to the Deputy Surgeon General of Star Fleet, a Vice Admiral, while the Nurse and Medic Corps are both commanded by Rear Admirals.
The Medical Service Corps is an organization of devoted administrative and research professionals supporting the three primary corps in their service to their patients. It includes healthcare scientists and researchers, comprising around 60% of its personnel, and healthcare administrators, comprising the remaining 40%. Along with the administrative support needed to run the high-capacity hospitals and research facilities, the corps provides the rear echelon support for the cutting edge technologies and procedures employed forward and deployed. It is led by a Rear Admiral.
The Surgeon General of Star Fleet is a PC and handles the budget decisions for his component. He also handles the responsibilities of the four corps.
The Deputy Surgeon General of Star Fleet, as well as the commanding officers of the four corps and one department, is a named NPC.
