Historical Events

• The Essex battle cruiser subclass (of the Horizon class) enters service.

• The Archon heavy cruiser subclass (of the Horizon class) enters service.

• Funding for the Essex and Archon sub-classes is cut to limit both to seven hulls each, due to anticipation of the Baton Rouge class heavy cruisers meeting demands.

• USS Targa (NCC-467, Kovaris sub-class) managed to disperse a magnetic storm threatening Balaka III by using her experimental pulse wave warheads – a Vulcan technology.

• The Jidai sub-class reconnaissance cruisers enter service with Starfleet.

• The Pytheas sub-class exploratory cruisers enter service with Starfleet.

• The Aldrin sub-class deep space frigate enter service with Starfleet.

• Early year: The Baton Rouge class heavy cruiser enters service with Starfleet.

The decision to have the USS Baton Rouge commissioned early in the year is to accommodate the Starfleet decision to commence constructing six more of the class in the same year.

• Six months after USS Baton Rouge commissioned: Six additional Baton Rouge class heavy cruisers are being constructed at six drydocks across the Federation.

In order to have all 23 Baton Rouge ships completed by the end of 2224, it is decided the additional (first) six of the class must be started within the same year USS Baton Rouge is commissioned.
