United Rigel Worlds and Colonies

The United Rigel Worlds and Colonies is an interplanetary and intergovernmental organization that incorporates the worlds of the Beta Rigel system and the five species that have settled them into a forum for the various states and colonies to maintain interplanetary peace and security, develop positive relations among themselves, and achieve cooperation regarding common challenges. Its purpose was never to serve as an authority over its member states, but rather as a means to facilitate collaboration between them.

As such, while some member species have joined the United Federation of Planets, not all have and United Rigel itself exists outside the aegis of the UFP.

History

• 1529: The Vegan Tyranny attacks Rigel VII, causing the destruction of the advanced Orion culture there, resulting in a return to barbarism.

• 1598: As an extension of the combined efforts of assistance to the Orions of Rigel VII, the Jelna propose (and the other Rigelian species agree) a framework where the skills and assets of the Beta Rigel system are managed on a collaborative framework; the United Rigel Worlds and Colonies is formed.
