• The repaired Columbus was destroyed by an Econ kinetic-kill missile on Earth orbit before she had the chance to fire a single shot.

There is no indication as to whether or not the Columbus was destroyed in the hostilities leading up to World War III, in the opening salvos or in the conflict that followed.

• 01 May: World War Three, waged in part with nuclear weapons, breaks out, resulting in the deaths of an estimated 600 million. One side was comprised of the United States and the European Alliance; the other side was the Eastern Coalition.
• All six O'Neil colonies were sufficiently self-sustaining that they all survived the nuclear exchanges of World War Three and the subsequent chaos.
