Historical Events

• June: The last of six Mercury class scouts (in one year) is lost, presumably to Romulan action.
• June: USS Candace (NS-5665) is damaged in an encounter with Romulan forces.

The month is conjecture.

• September: USS Candace (NS-5665) re-launches, is hijacked by stranded Romulans, recovered by the USS Jackson (Cavalry class) and returned to drydock for repairs.

The hijacking occurred 3 months after its initial encounter in June.

• The original Durance class transports started to receive wartime weapons upgrades.
• The Romulans penetrate the interplanetary security of the Sector 5B Mining Complex, destroying this important allied resource.

The year of the attack is moved forward to accommodate the stated year of official hostilities.

• A Mercury hull under construction is modified to become the first Doppler class scout.
• A heated and anguished budget debate at UESF Command eventually resulted in a compromise known as the “seventy per cent deal”.
