Insignia of the Star FleetLogistics Command

Summary

In 2161, the new Star Fleet was organized around the specialization and available assets of its founding members. As Tellar's commercial culture, along with its extensive trade routes, was considered to be the most developed of the new United Federation of Planets, it was decided the nation would devote its space assets to developing the role of logistics and support for the fledgling UFP space force. While all founding members would continue to operate intra-system guard forces, the Tellar Space Administration (TSA) split off its considerable assets devoted to commerce, trade, and route protection and regulation to develop the logistical transport arm of Star Fleet. These assets would form the new Star Fleet Logistics Command.

The government of the United Planets of Tellar designated Mov chim Flar to be the first Chief of Staff of Logistics. He was commissioned as a Star Fleet admiral and he served as one of the initial five Joint Chiefs of Staff.

The Chief of Staff for Logistics is a PC and directly controls the ships and other assets that are assigned to Logistics Command. The Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics is a named NPC. In 2208, upon Star Fleet's re-organization, the positions are reconstituted with new roles and titles.

  • Federation Merchant Service (2161): regulates and manages the UFP's interstellar commercial fleet; authorizes all Star Fleet vessels with code enforcement
    • Star Fleet Merchant Marine (2167): all FMS ships federalized in times of war or crises fall under this office

The role and organization of Logistics Command will be expanded upon.
