History

  • Prior to 2142: The Tellarites either add Altair to the United Planets of Tellar or establish a colony on the planet.
  • prior to 2236: Becomes a UFP member/colony.[1]
  • 2237: Altair is one of several members to express interest in forming separate ‘defense zones’ inside the Federation.[1]

Important Locations

  • list known locations that have game implications (ex: defense bases, depots, etc.); otherwise, "None"

Notes

  • Altair is the homeworld of the Altairians. It appears they allowed a Tellarite colony to be founded by 2142; it is also possible/likely the Altairians joined the United Planets of Tellar.
  • Altair withdrew at some point after the Babel Conference of 2238 and before the end of the Four Years War, as the system rejoined (according to the source) in the 2260s.
  • The 2269 date is a best guess. The source indicates they were the last of three systems to rejoin the Federation in the 2260s, and TOS: "Amok Time" indicates three starships visited upon the occasion of the inauguration of the new president in 2267, which reportedly stabilized the area. The presumption is the system rejoined after a brief period of reformation.
