Historical Events

• January 21st: The surviving crew of UESS Cavalier (ND-62, Cavalry class), is found alive and in good health by USS Lorelei (Helena class). Their recovery is a long-awaited positive media event in the middle of the postwar atmosphere of disillusionment, ambiguity and anxiety.

• The two Aberdeen subclass escort cruisers are decommissioned.

• September: The first class of Star Fleet Academy convenes amongst the under-construction campus in San Francisco.

The year is presumed to have occurred four years prior to the first class' graduation (in 2266); the month is based on the same class' commencement date that same (latter) year.

• A conflict erupts with the Tarn, when a Star Fleet vessel is attacked and over 200 crew are killed.

The attack on the Star Fleet vessel as the opening act is presumed. The FTSC references the USS Constitution as that vessel, but for registry purposes, that is being left unnamed at this time.

• Work progresses on shield/warp field integration, at first on the Triton fleet, then on the new human flagship, USS Endeavour (NCC-06, Columbia class).

• The USS Verdun and USS Constantine, both Messier cruisers, are pressed to duty against the Tarn. Both disappear: the Constantine without a trace and the Verdun until 2366.

• The last Messier cruiser to be retired, USS Braxton (NC-195), is on her way to be preserved in the recently founded Star Fleet Museum when her warp drive system creates a catastrophic asymmetry and tears the ship into pieces. The skeleton crew of fifteen is killed instantly.

• The Ottawa subclass of the Hercules transports starts to receive significant warp engine upgrades.

• The last Djartanna light destroyers are removed from active service and mothballed, never transferred to the UFP Star Fleet register.

• The Marshall heavy destroyers are assigned to the defense duties previously held by the Djartanna light destroyers.

• Eighteen of the Doppler class scout ships start to receive forcefield generators (as well as NCC numbers); some of the remaining others are sold to allied navies.

This started after 2161.

• The fifth Poseidon class heavy cruiser clears its box dock, to enter service with the UFP Star Fleet.

• Earth Councillor Dannon is assassinated while making a pacifist speech on Federation grounds in San Francisco.

• The Normandy & Port Stanley classes of escort fightercraft enter service with Star Fleet.

• November: The newly upgraded USS Endeavour (NCC-06, Columbia class) heads out on a sweeping mission of frontier diplomacy in the Tandar-Rigel flank of the nascent Federation.

• The last of the 39 Chryse subclass transports are completed.

• The Confederated Martian Colonies joins the United Federation of Planets.
