The Eurasian Confederation (EC) was the creation of Russia to attempt to secure additional shares of planetary resources, in order to acquire the vision of interplanetary advancement of the coming 21st century. In 1996, Russia convinced former Soviet satellite nations Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan to combine resources with it, in order to get a foot in the door of the space-faring nations club, with the resultant technological advances. The impact of the diplomatic and political leverage was immediate: Russia saw a 60% increase in its immediate reach.
The Eurasian Confederation remained an alliance of consideration for a number of decades and its immediate success was the inspiration of the Western Alliance's own formation. The absorption into the Eastern Coalition in 2031 was an additional boon to the initial member states.
