Centaurians (also known as Centaurans) are the native humanoid species of the planet Alpha Centauri Prime (also known as Alpha Centauri IV or locally as Al Rijil or Velestus). They are typically citizens of the Alpha Centauri Concordium of Planets, which is a founding member state of the United Federation of Planets.

Appearance

Centaurians are, more all practical purposes, Human, but they do not recognize themselves as such. Due to their recorded history starting on Alpha Centauri Prime, they consider themselves Centaurians first, with a genetic relationship to the Humans, but not a shared history. There is little doubt that the two races share a common ancestry within the previous 40,000 years. Physically, there are some minor physiological differences, such as an extra joint in the little finger and a patterning of capillaries in the skin, that result in a hexagonal effect when their faces became flushed. General motor response in Centaurians is markedly higher than in Humans.[1][2]

Average lifespan 110 years
