Insignia of the Starfleet Engineering Command

Summary

In 2161, the new Starfleet was organized around the specialization and available assets of its founding members. As Alpha Centauri had quickly demonstrated its cultural prowess in all things industrial, it was decided the nation would devote it's available space and planetary assets in providing both the ships and infrastructure the fleet would need. While all founding members would continue to operate intra-system guard forces, the Alpha Centauri Space Research Council would devote a number of space-borne and planet based facilities, as well as the subject matter experts, to building up Starfleet's ability to procure the ships it foresaw as requirements, as well as the infrastructure necessary (such as space stations)to administrate for them. The council would directly populate the new Starfleet Engineering Command.

The Alpha Centauri Concordium selected Alexis Osman to be the first Chief of Staff of Engineering. She was commissioned as a Starfleet admiral and she served as one of the initial five Joint Chiefs of Staff.

The Chief of Staff for Engineering is a PC and directly controls the ships and other assets that are assigned to Engineering Command. The Deputy Chief of Staff for Engineering is a named NPC. In 2208, upon Starfleet's re-organization, the positions are reconstituted with new roles and titles.
