Help:Scratchpad/Starship Construction & Drydocks

Each class of drydock (initially) can "produce" a certain amount of tonnage monthly (as it pertains to building starships & space station modules). However, there are (at least) two issues that influence this output:
- As a class is introduced and operated, processes to maximize use are discovered, refined, improved upon and implemented. Therefore, at set periods of time over that class' operational life, the total output increases for each operational drydock of that class (at the same time, representing a sharing of corporate knowledge). Those set periods (and percentage increases) are:
- 1 year (+5%)
- 3 years (+3%)
- 5 years (+2%)
- 10 years (+2%)
- 15 years (+2%)
- 20 years (+1%)
- 25 years (+3%)
- As a result of the years since initial drydock design & activation, new technologies & processes for both starship systems and construction techniques are introduced. While aging of a drydock can be countered somewhat with upgrades and repairs, at a certain point the culture's current technological base and construction processes are best utilized in drydocks designed to use, install and build them. Ships will simply be too complex for older drydocks to provide the same level of historic output, as the dock's design will have inherent limitations for which adjustments will have to be made. Hence, starting at the 50-year point after class introduction, drydocks of a given class loose output by set percentages, reflecting the difficulty in building the "latest & greatest":
- 50 years (-2%)
- 60 years (-2%)
- 70 years (-5%)
- 80 years (-7%)
- 90 years (-7%)
- 100 years (-10%) and every 10 years after
