• The near-canon ship for this name is clearly the kitbashed Excelsior, with the secondary hull jutted far forward of the primary hull, with Constitution type nacelles. I've always hated the non-scaled kitbash ships and seek to explain them away. One perspective for the Mediterranean from that DS9 episode is that the real ship is something more akin to this ship, heavily damaged, and towing the secondary hull of an Excelsior. However, that just doesn't work for me and it conflicts somewhat with Timo's description (and mission) of the ship. Instead, I like the idea that it is the un-named Federation tug, which is also a kitbash and looks horrible off-screen. However, indicating it is a dedicated working tug pressed into the deep space salvage the Dominion War required explains a lot. I hopw to also get ahold of perspectives that "Federation-izes" the ship much more than seen on screen.
