The Chief of Public Affairs to the Secretary of Star Fleet oversees the Star Fleet Office of Public Affairs, which is tasked with media and public relations. Its mission is to provide for the widest practicable and appropriate dissemination of information to the media and general public concerning Star Fleet activities and results. Services include: advising the Secretary on issues concerning communications as well as public and media relations, policy guidance, advice, and consultation, for both the Secretariat and Star Fleet commands on public affairs issues, coordination of resources to news media and the public, maintaining communication channels to the news media and the general public.
