Alternate Economy Concept
The following is inspired by a table in the Stars Without Number supplemental rule book, Skyward Steel. On page 53, the Budget Points By Population table created a standard for determining a planet's naval budget based on the living standard and population size. In the setting of Stars without Number, the upper tier standards of living—Elite and Peerless—no longer exist. However, I am including those here with what I consider the appropriate values might be. From this, a new planetary economy might develop.
| Living Standard |
100 Thousand | 1 Million | 10 Million | 100 Million | 1 Billion |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Slum | 10 | 50 | 100 | 200 | 300 |
| Poor | 30 | 100 | 200 | 350 | 500 |
| Common | 50 | 150 | 300 | 500 | 700 |
| Good | 90 | 250 | 500 | 700 | 1,000 |
| Elite | 130 | 350 | 700 | 1,000 | 1,300 |
| Peerless | 190 | 550 | 1,100 | 1,200 | 1,750 |
Adjust the total BP based upon how close the population is to the next population tier. For example, a Common-lifestyle world of 2,500,000 people would have 150 BP plus 25% of the difference between 150 and 300 for 188 BP (150 x 0.25 + 150).
