Taneko

Taneko was a Bolian Star Fleet officer in the early 24th century, best remembered for leading the Federation fleet at the Battle of Alphard.

In the late 2340s and early 2350s the Tholians had been testing the waters with their borders to the Federation, attacking some outposts to observe the response. The Federation sent a fleet, under the command of Admiral Taneko and his flagship, the USS Mizar, to stop them, leading to the Battle of Alphard in 2351.

The admiral sacrificed his badly-damaged ship to destroy the Tholian fleet, securing the victory for the Federation. His legacy include his contributions to fleet tactics and organization, both which transformed the fleet's strategic doctrine. Taneko was also known for his reorganization of the fleet model, done between 2348 and 2350. This model would last through the Dominion War.
