Build:Space Station Operations Systems
11.6 Operations Systems
Most systems onboard a space station operate very similarly to that of a starship. One exception is that of the bridge-equivalent, the Operations Center.
11.6.1 Operations Center
The Operations Center ("Ops") is calculated on the station's base size (versus its design-modified size). Although stations tend to be larger than starships, they also generally require less control functions. They have no engines and no need for navigation controls, as an example. A larger proportion of a station is taken up by quarters, recreation and the like, which do not require command oversight.
11.6.2 Ore Processing
Not all stations are designed for the glamourous military mission, nor do the majority of the remainder operate as bastions of scientific research. Some are working stations, and ore processing is one example of a more commercial design.
