Historical Events

• USS Clara Barton (NCC-287), Castor class survey cruiser, helps fight the Rigelian fever at its outbreak by providing both laboratory facilities, database services and quarantine enforcement that initially limits the plague to Rigel V.

• The final Venture class light cruiser to be constructed enters service.

• During acceptance trials, USS Scotia (NCC-1006, Horizon class) achieved warp 5.9 for two minutes (though it was much later realized Warp 6 had actually been 'touched').

• The final ships (of the finally 13 ordered) of the Horizon heavy cruiser class are completed and enter service.

• The Armstrong subclass is re-designated as a light cruiser.

The year of re-designation is presumed to occur two years after initial delievery, based on the text, "...and was soon re-designated a general light cruiser asset instead."
