United Earth Defense Pact

Mission Statement
The United Earth Defense Pact (UEDP) is tasked with six missions: the military defense of the Sol system, interplanetary law enforcement, orbital security, search and rescue, navigational assistance and customs enforcement.
Background
The United Earth Defense Pact is the third 'commander' of the SFC RPG, acting to coordinate all space activities, both orbital, intraplanetary and interstellar, before being relieved by the United Earth Starfleet in 2087. [Note: relieving agency and dates to be modified as more structure is built.]
The SFC RPG 'commanders' are:
- US Strategic Command: 1989 - 2018
- International Space Agency (ISA): 2018 - 2069
- United Earth Defense Pact (UEDP): 2069 - 2087 [1]
- United Earth Starfleet (UESF): 2087 - 2161
- United Federation of Planets Starfleet (UFP SF): 2161 -

Structure
United Earth Space Fleet (UESF): A predecessor to the United Earth Starfleet (also UESF) and the United Federation of Planets Starfleet (UFPSF), the organization acted as an agency of the United Earth Defense Pact, taking control of all armed Human spacecraft within 5,000 AUs of Sol, per the Sparon-DeSoto treaty. The United Earth Space Central was the coordinating and command office within the organization.[1]
- The existance of a United Earth Space Fleet is not supported by any source (though the United Earth Space Central is), but stands to reason when confronted with the need for such an organization under the contested United Earth Defense Pact umbrella.
United Earth Defense Force (UEDF): In the latter part of the 2070s, this organization stood up as member nations disarmed their own national militias, in accordance with the Sparon-DeSoto treaty. The Defense Force consisted of a hodge-podge of infantry, military police, armor and associated support units, primarily as a means to protect Earth's citizens and infrastructure from internal unrest, but tituraly to protect the planet from alien threats. Some years after the Force's creation, the special forces unit Military Assault Command Operations (also known as MACO) was formed. [2]
- In the Guide article Liberty (Guide), it is stated that national militias began to disarm in the latter portion of the 2070s, per the Sparon-DeSoto treaty. As a United Earth Space Fleet was created to fill a role, it seemed natural that a similar organization would form from the remnants of those militias.
