Wenchang Launch Center, located off the mainland of China on Earth, was originally developed as a satellite launching facility on the island of Hainan in the 1960s. However, upon being approached by the Augment-controlled company Dinyan-Yoyodyne in the mid-1980s, the Chinese decided to ramp up the construction and launch capabilities of the site. At present, the DY-50 Shuguang class experimental transport is being designed there.
