(Required)
Cost: 2 x Size
Power Requirement: half the Power needed for Basic Life Support, unrounded
In addition to the primary basic life support system, Star Fleet vessels are equipped with a reserve system in case the primary system fails. It functions at approximately 50% of the primary system’s capacity for up to 24 hours. It shares the primary system’s network. Thus, if the primary system’s network is damaged, reserve life support cannot function properly, so emergency life support must be activated. Early spacecraft and small vessels may be exempt from having a Reserve Life Support System.
SFC Technology Index
Life Support technology is contracted out to various manufacturers by the shipwrights and is not standardized by generation nor ship size. Instead, nonfunctional life support modules are swapped out and replaced as necessary, without having to upgrade and replace an entire system. As such, Life Support has no index.
