The z-coordinates of the top and bottom representations will match those designated and intermediate sector-plane locations will have the z-coordinates match the mid-range of that sector plane (ex: for -20.00 through -0.01, it would be set at -10.00).

This category lists nebulae.

Note: For the sake of simplicity, the dimensions of nebulae in Starship Tracker are perfectly identical from the top to the bottom.
  • If a nebula exists completely within one sector plane (ex: 0.00 to 20.00 on the Z-axis): Set its Z-coordinate to the nebula’s center plane, meaning its central Z-coordinate. Label it within SST with the nebula’s normal name, with no suffix.
  • If a nebula spans two sector planes: Create two location entries: one for its bottom and one for its top. Name the entries Nebula Name (bottom) and Nebula Name (top). Assign each entry the appropriate designated bottom or top Z-coordinate for the nebula. Do not create a separate entry at the nebula’s center Z-plane. Depending on the plane of the central Z-coordinate (ex: Z of +22.5), one of the two representations is sharing the "original" plane (ex: Z of +28.5) and displays the nebula’s name at its geographic center on that base Z-plane (at +22.5), using 75% font size. The secondary representation displays the name at the appropriate end of the nebula’s Z-axis—top or bottom—using 50% font size.
  • If a nebula spans three or more planes: Create an entry for every relevant sector plane. Create a base-plane entry using only the nebula’s normal name, with no suffix. Set its Z-coordinate to the nebula’s base/center Z-coordinate. Create a top entry named Nebula Name (top). Set its Z-coordinate to the designated top Z-coordinate. Create a bottom entry named Nebula Name (bottom). Set its Z-coordinate to the designated bottom Z-coordinate.
For every sector plane between the top and bottom planes, create an intermediate entry. Append the floor (lowest Z-value) of that sector plane to the nebula name (ex: J'ral Nebula (-20)). Set the entry’s Z-coordinate to the midpoint of that sector plane (ex: for a sector plane running from Z = -0.01 through Z = -20.00, use Z = -10.00).

Dimensions Determination Method

1. Provide Perplexity the dimensions of the nebula/star cluster/state's established coordinates of its central plane:

A closed asymmetrical shape is represented on a 2D map with the following (JSON format) coordinates. Generate that 2D representation as an image with a defining boundary.

Attach those points; ex:

"points":[{"x":-31.16,"y":10.75,"z":0},{"x":-32.15,"y":8.55,"z":0},{"x":-29.8,"y":7.14,"z":0},{"x":-27.71,"y":10.75,"z":0},{"x":-26.6,"y":12.82,"z":0},{"x":-28.14,"y":12.51,"z":0}]

Confirm the provided image roughly matches the actual shape in SST.

2. Determine the relative center of the the nebula/star cluster/state:

What is the coordinate for the geographic center of this shape?

3. Determine the greatest length between established coordinates of the nebula/star cluster/state:

What is the longest dimension that exists within this shape?

4. Determine the upper and lower z-axis values, based on that greatest length; modify as necessary/pertinent.

5. Determine the approximate volume by the central plane's established dimension and the greatest length doubled:

Calculate the volume of a large irregular diffuse nebula (not bipolar) with a fractal boundary and vertical extent of ## units (crossing through the geographic center), using the defined cross-sectional area as the base.
