- Note: this page is in the process of being built from several sources, most notable the SFC scratchpad of the same subject. When the primary references (listed below) have been fully data-mined, then this note should be removed.
The System Generator and Report application provides a Resource Availability report of an orbital body in these categories:
- Normal Metals
- Special Metals
- Radioactives
- Gem Stones
- Industrial Crystals
It does not provide any indication of elements present in a scan, unless they are noted for their presence as elemental ores (ex: gold) or as mineral deposits (ex: topaline). The following sections categorize all known resources (elemental or mineral) into one of the above categories, and should indicate whether they are elemental or mineral, by nature. (The use of the term "metals" is meant to be synonymous with "element" or "mineral", where an elemental ore is comprised of the single element and a mineral deposit is a compound of two or more different elements bonded together chemically.)
Organic and manufactured compounds and (presently) unorganized substances are categorized in their own sections.
- Note: Most mineral names end in -ite or -ine.
Natural Resources
Normal Metals
Normal metals are elemental ores or mineral deposits that are not considered rare or unique.
Special Metals
Special metals are elemental ores or mineral deposits that are rare or unique.
Radioactives
Radioactive metals, for the purposes of resource categorization, are those that radiate ionizing—and often harmful—energy. These entries should indicate their elemental or mineral nature.
- Actinide
- series of elements (atomic numbers 89 through 102), including actinium.
- Actinium
- (element) in the Actinide series of elements; reacts with oxygen and moisture to prevent further oxidation; Use: radiation therapy.
- No MA entry
- Protactinium
- (element) in the Actinide series of elements; extremely rare, highly radioactive, and very toxic.
- No MA entry
- Thorium
- (element) in the Actinide series of elements; mildly radioactive. Use: fission power systems.
- Uranium
- (element) in the Actinide series of elements; weakly radioactive. Use: fuel for fission power and weapons.
Gem Stones
Gem stones are minerals of a smaller nature that hold value above that of normal or special metals.
Industrial Crystals
Industrial crystals are solid materials that have formed a lattice structure and are valued for industrial purposes.
Organic Compounds
- Acetylcholine
- neurotransmitter
Manufactured Compounds
- Acidichloride
- gaseous chemical, toxic to Humans, though essential to certain "evolved" Humans.
