Whenever a commanding officer (usually with the rank of captain) becomes "active," the character is named and identified as a species. While this may extend to other instances, the below table is used to identify the species. In the table, the hyperlink will lead to a name generator for that species (if available). If Alternate Species is rolled, follow the link to the Federation Members table, sort on the Joined column, and roll an equal percentage for each of the member planets up to the present game-year. Re-roll if one of the five founding planets is rolled, but retain any other planet rolled that may include one of those original species (ex: Jotunheim, a human colony).
| Roll 1d100 | Planet/Species |
|---|---|
| 01-65 | Earth/Human |
| 66-75 | Vulcan |
| 76-82 | Andor/Andorian |
| 83-87 | Alpha Centauri/Human |
| 88-90 | Tellar/Tellarite |
| 91-00 | Alternate Species |
