In the RPG, the following governments and agencies own/operate named vessels. The designations they used as prefixes for the ships are as follows:
- NASA/USAF - codes, such as OV-101, where the letters represented a mission type and the number was for sequentially designating a specific vessel within that mission
- ESA - no prefixes; just named vessels, sometimes accompanied by a missions-series name (ex: Ponce de León - Aventeur II)
- ISA - same as the ESA
- UESN - UES, for United Earth Ship
- UESF - starting with its founding in 2033, Starfleet re-designated all vessels as UESS, for United Earth Star Ship
- Starfleet - when founded in 2161 the UFP Star Fleet retained USS, but short for United Star Ship
