The Undersecretary of Installations for Star Fleet is the senior civilian official for ensuring Star Fleet receives, supports and administers the various permanent facilities deemed necessary for it to complete it's primary mission areas. This includes planet- and orbit-based facilities, such as depots, academies and shipyards, but also deep-space assets, such as starbases and sensor arrays. While Commander, Star Fleet maintains command authority over the Support Operations component, the Undersecretary's office works closely with it, as well as with the Federation Council and interested organizations, such as those at both the federal and planetary levels.
