This checklist is a living page; it will be updated as the game evolves and awareness increases of events that must be tracked.

Annual Checklist

Check prior to first month's play.

GM Admin

  • ☐ Identify ship classes that will enter service 50 years from now; write Guide articles and supporting information (if not yet done)
  • ☐ Identify ship classes that will enter service 10 years from now:
    • Design the ship class article for each class
    • Roughly backdate from service start when construction of prototype must begin
    • Backdate from construction start to determine when designing must begin

Economy

  • ☐ Estimate coming year's Tech Investment Requirement by dividing last December's Total Domestic Product (the sum of all planets' Productivity) by 2
  • ☐ Roll for Economy Fluctuations for Earth (affects each nation; military actions refer to minor or major conflicts occurring on or involving the planet)
  • ☐ Make advancement roll for each Independent Colony.
  • ☐ Make advancement roll for each 2+ year Resource-rich Dependent Colony
  • ☐ Make advancement roll for each 10+ year standard Dependent Colony
  • ☐ Determine the present Quantity Modifier (QM) for each class of ship
  • ☐ Determine the present Initial Maintenance Costs (IMC) for each ship in each class, applying both the class QM and the individual age increase
  • ☐ Determine the present Initial Maintenance Costs (IMC) for non-ship assets (shuttles, stations, ground facilities, non-ship units, etc.)
  • ☐ Compile and record the present Monthly Maintenance Costs for all assets (ships and non-ships).

Check prior to starting next year's play.
  • ☐ Determine year's Tech Investment Requirement (TIR) by dividing this December's Total Domestic Product (the sum of all planets' Productivity) by 2
  • ☐ Determine the Tech Advancement Ratio by dividing the RPs within this year's Tech Investment Pool by the TIR.
    • If the result is equal to 1 or higher, a Tech Advance is automatic. Advance the Tech Year by 1. Subtract 1 from the result, multiply by 100 and roll 1d100 against it.
      • If this roll is less than the result, a second Tech Advance is achieved. Advance the Tech Year by 1 again. All RPs in the Tech Investment Pool are now expended.
      • If this roll exceeds the result, there is no second Tech Advance. All RPs in the Tech Investment Pool are now expended.
    • If the result is less than 1, multiply it by 100 and roll 1d100 against it.
      • If this roll is less than the result, a Tech Advance is achieved. Advance the Tech Year by 1. All RPs in the Tech Investment Pool are now expended.
      • If this roll is more than the result, no Tech Advance at all is achieved this year. Deposit the RPs in the Tech Investment Pool into next year's.

Monthly Checklist

  • ☐ Update the Monthly Maintenance Costs with newly delivered assets (ships, non-ships).
