* June 11: Timo last updated his Guide in December 2012 and I'm of the belief that the wiki isn't so far along as to be unable to bring this version of the Guide somewhat in-synch. At this point, I've completed adding all of the new ship classes in to each chapter page and to the Guides front page and am in the process of making the extensive changes to the first article, Guide: DY sublight series. It should be noted that Timo's latest version breaks the DY series into two separate articles, one sublight, the other warp. However, the sublight version appears to discuss craft that are not obviously not DY series, so I've had to re-craft that article somewhat to allow for this.
: This re-design of the wiki Guide requires, too, a consideration of the game's Canon Timeline, as I'm rather certain Timo jiggered with dates of events. Something to consider might be re-doing the timeline from scratch, as bouncing non-Guide dates against the Guide might require even more time.
: Thought: would there be any benefit into making the timeline sortable?  Probably not, as it is already in order of date and there is not obvious benefit in making the narrative text of Events nor the references the primary column.
* June 16: <strike>Okay, in order to not delete a whole bunch of Year pages, I'll mark progress on the 're-writing of history' thing by removing the 'Years' category from each one as I update it, leaving the 'Timeline' category.</strike> The project itself will delete all recorded dates from the 'Historical Events' section upon first re-edit, replacing them with the new entry. <strike>The removal of the 'Years' category will allow me to quickly determine whether or not a date is from the previous version of the Guide or not.</strike> Note: dates derived from non-Guide sources will be retained, unless found to be in error.
: Okay...that won't work, as the 'Years' category is embedded in the Timeline nav template. Removing it from the template will result in it being automatically removed from every page, rather than serving as a progress indicator. Instead, I'll remove the 'Reminders' section altogether from updated pages, as a less informative but workable solution. (Also, I'm removing the 'Years' category from the template, since it doesn't appear to have a distinct difference from the 'Timeline' category.)
* June 19: the 4 sub-DY articles (Guide: Afrodite, Guide:Ares (Mars mission class), Guide: Apex and Guide: Aventeur) have been completed. <strike>The next sub-project up-to-bat is the DY-specific pages. At this moment, I want to do them, but I'm not sure they're needed, since I'm not likely to gameplay this era. However, if I want to field-test in-game ship and ship class pages, I might as well start here. I'll go ahead and start them, with the understanding that if they get too tedious, I can drop it.</strike> The game pages aren't necessary yet, until I get to that point of the game, so I won't construct them [the DY-50 class page is done]. Instead, time to move on down the Guides table of contents.
* July 6: Guide: Liberty indicates the SS Leif Eirickson makes first contact with the Tellarites in 2073, while the original pictorial text from Guide: DY warp series indicated the ship was a Hawke subclass patrol cruiser that first saw service in 2087. Since it is clear the vessel is intended to be a private one and that the contact occurred before the latter date, the text was changed to indicate the ship was of the SY-500 Wheeler subclass.
* July 13: I've gone thru Part 1 of the Guide and listed all of the provided and assumed NCCs for UFP ships, a bit past the Constitution class. Doing so made me realize that the ship histories (and some cases designs) will not be able to follow the Guide that closely. In fact,  other than non-class related events, the most likely we'll get to following the Guide is with when classes start.

General

• Andorian Imperial Guard versus Andorian Self-Defense Forces: Timo uses "Andorian Self-Defense Forces" (ASDF) in Guide:Sevaijen article, but also mentions the (canon) Andorian Imperial Guard (AIG), without any discernment. Therefore, to reduce confusion, any mention of the ASDF will be altered to refer to the AIG (or possibly the Starfleet Branch, Andorian Guard).
• Earth Fleet: In Guide:Djartanna and Guide: Vanguard, ships are mentioned as staying with the UESF after the war, or remaining active but not registered to the UFP Starfleet. As there are indications that some ships were completely mono-species well after the war, and the Romulan War was fought by separate but jointly operating nation fleets, it stands to reason that some assets were not transferred to the new Starfleet, but retained for local defense, especially at the beginning of the alliance. Certain older warships and support vessels (as indicated in the Guide and as prudent) will be kept in or near Earth territories, or escorting Earth-specific ventures. And, once the term 'Starfleet' is applied to the UFP, the UE government declares 'Earth Fleet' as the term for the minor forces making up it's defense (until Starfleet formerly takes over all defense for Earth...whenever that is).

Where I Left Off

• I'm working on several rules aspects:
• ingest and re-write the Fleet Combat rules (from Spacedock)
• I'd like to also set up a 'Game Portal', to replace the Phase rules currently located in the Sidebar; this will involve relocating all Rules, Background and possibly Scratchpad articles to a new namespace ("Game" or "RPG")
• Move orbital zone tables from talk page to Surveys
• The Tech Level rules are being transcribed from VBAM CMC and need to be adapted to SFC
• The next Guide articles are:
• Note: Guide articles need to have the following completed:
• Article page created
• Sidebar completed
• Text completed
• Pictures identified/uploaded/cleaned up
• data-mined for dates & events (incorporated into Year pages)
• known ships (of all classes) put into the NCC Registry
• Era gallery picture uploaded
• The next Class article:
