The '''''DY-100''''' class transports heralded the modern age, by introducing [[Earth]]'s first interplanetary vessels. The DY-100 class transports heralded the modern age, by introducing Earth's first interplanetary vessels. While the class wouldn't immediately usher in an age of prosperity, as there would be significant technological setbacks before the planet could truly be categorized as "united", it did prove to the growing species that the wealth of the solar system was within reach. Turbulent times would follow as a result.

The ship worked primarily as the transport it was intended to be, even when the technology to produce it was re-discovered in the 2020s. Able to grapple to asteroids and even settle on low-mass moons, it was a successful platform for top-level mining of those bodies. The base model assumed the client states (initially China, India, South Korea, and the United States) would want the minimal scientific gear to explore the immediate near-space installed and so almost 70 tons of such equipment was provided. Cargo pods capable of holding over 1,000 tons of material each were carried along the spine; the vessel also provided 68 tons internally, for the crew's easy access. The pods themselves were generally bulk storage, but variants included rigid storage extravehicular activity, such as maneuvering packs and even confined open-space maneuvering pods for single operators.

The DY-100 vessels were never (knowingly) armed by the Dinyan-Yoyodyne Conglomerate, nor the client states, though they were fired upon by frantic members of the Great Khanate attempting escape from Human retribution.

Botany Bay Flight Configuration

The Botany Bay was built by the Dinyan-Yoyodyne Conglomerate officially as a mock-up for the potential fourth in the series of DY transports, but really as a cover for the acquisition for a nondescript 'escape' vessel, in the event the Augments (specifically, Khan and his followers) failed in their attempts to unite the Earth under their collective rule. Amidst the other DY-100s and the focus on the weaponized DY-110 Apexes, the Botany Bay performed just as planned. No records survived to indicate the vessel left the Sol system, and the final fate of Khan was left unanswered, until 2266.
