Power Requirement: See note
All ships carry a network of batteries, stored throughout the ship where ever space may be available, to provide ready power to nearby systems in case of power loss or disruption from primary sources. Some earlier vessels even relied upon these batteries for primary system power (though they could not power propulsion systems). Generally, these batteries are drawn upon constantly to directly power these systems when in normal or standby modes, cutting the powered systems over to direct EPS feed only when high demand is required. When the EPS power is lost, the batteries automatically kick right back in to support requirements.
Note: I cannot find a direct source for this entry; I believe it was developed by myself, based upon the "individual Systems Power Sources" section of Spacedock, on page 94. Gamewise, this serves as a good plot device to provide "energy out of nowhere" when needed; power generation and requirement should be considered negligible, as the batteries are fed constantly from the EPS when not in high demand and provide power as demand requires it. However, they should be seen generally as "one-shot" devices, when identified as sources.
SFC Technology Index
Battery Power Systems technology is contracted out to various manufacturers by the shipwrights and is not standardized by generation nor ship size. Instead, batteries are swapped out and replaced as necessary, without having to upgrade and replace an entire system. As such, Battery Power Systems have no index.
