The [[Earth Cargo Authority]] was a government body on [[Earth]] that regulated the [[Earth Cargo Service]] from the period shortly after First Contact ([[2082]], specifically) until the formation of the [[United Federation of Planets]] in [[2161]]. It was a department of the [[United Earth Defense Pact]].<ref>[http://memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Earth_Cargo_Authority Memory Alpha: Earth Cargo Authority]</ref>

Its mission was to regulate commercial Earth ships traveling to other species' planets for the purpose of trade. The intent was to ensure that positive relations would develop, while at the same time bringing back the technologies and resources felt necessary to develop Earth's own interstellar program, one limited by the [[Vulcan]] stewardship of the [[Sol]] system.

The agency operated [[Jupiter Station]] from 2082 on.<ref name=JupiterStation>[[Jupiter Station]]</ref> It operated [[Luna Shipyard]] from [[2123]] on.<ref name=LunaShipYard>[[Luna Shipyard]]</ref>
