Star Fleet Security

Star Fleet Security provides the trained personnel needed to protect Star Fleet's assets, be they starships, facilities or personnel. All security personnel (minus those on special assignment to Special Operations) are a part of Star Fleet Security, falling under one of the three below divisions.

Note: Star Fleet does not operate its own prison sentence; any violations of the SCMJ that warrant sentences are served in Federation facilities.

The commanding officer of Star Fleet Security is a Rear Admiral.

• Defense Services: The division of Defense Services is in charge of developing offensive and defensive protocols for starship (and other armed facilities) defense and providing that training to not only the Star Fleet personnel in tactical divisions, but also to command track personnel that may have need to employ them. The division is led by a Captain.

• Investigative Services: The division of Investigative Services are the criminal investigators of Star Fleet, tour personnel trained to conduct investigations that involve Star Fleet personnel or may directly relate to the security of the fleet, in whatever form that may take. They work closely with the office of the Inspector General. The division is led by a Captain.

• Security Services: The division of Security Services provides the starship and starbase personnel charged with onboard security. Specifically, while overseeing the events that affect such Star Fleet assets, it is also in charge of developing the policies and procedures that make such assets safer from internal threats. The division is led by a Captain.

The commanding officer of Star Fleet Security and the captains in charge of the Security divisions are all named NPCs.
