By 2371, a new form of technology, isomagnetic conduits, is available to make EPS systems more efficient. When isomagnetic EPS conduits are in use, extra Power transfer capacity only costs +1 SU for every 20 extra Power per round. Isomagnetic EPS conduits are still relatively rare by 2376; the Narrator determines whether they’re available for a particular ship. Generally, they are only built into post-2371 designs, though overhauls may also allow for their installation.
