History

• 1980: The Benzites have their "Great Awakening" by channeling their competitive natures into peaceful endeavors.

• 2146: Benzites discover warp technology.

• 2354: Benzar applies for UFP protectorate status (an early step towards membership).

• 2357: Benzar applies for full membership in the Federation.

• 2364: The first Benzite is admitted to Star Fleet Academy.

• 2366: The United Federation of Planets extends membership to Benzar.

The source says it took 9 years after 2357 for their membership to be accepted, largely due to controversey regarding the species' complete dependence upon genetic re-sequencing.

• 2372: Genetic re-sequencing allows select Benzites, as well newborns, to forego breathing vaporizers when offworld.

• Early 2374: Benzar is occupied by the Dominion.

• Mid- 2374: Benzar is liberated by Romulan forces.
