Reports

Each Report of the Star Fleet: Starship Recognition Manual (SRM) details the primary ship and all its variants within a set class of ships (ex: Trent class). These may be put together in a later separate release by volumes, maybe around classes of ships or set years in Star Fleet's history. Each Report has the following pages (with major sections indicated):

  • Front Cover
  • Forward/Credits
  • Contents
  • Ship's first page
    • Image Box
    • Data Box
  • Ship's second page
    • General Information
    • Starship Register
  • Ship's Schematic
  • Class Timeline (notable events)
  • Class Comparison Guide
  • Glossary
  • Previous Releases
  • Rear Cover

These pages are described with more details below.

All interior pages will have "Starfleet Technical Order", Authenticated Stardate xxxx.xx" (where the xxxx.xx represents the date of publication YYMM.DD), and PG xx.xx (where xx.xx represents the page number) at the top, above the framed box. In all cases, the page number will be on the outer side of the page, so that odd-numbered page numbers are on the left side, and even-numbered on the right.

  • PG xx.xx: Probert 30pt
    • Top left: left-aligned at 399, 200
    • Top Right: right-aligned at 2610, 200

Forward & Credits

This page goes on the inside cover and will be one undivided page, with the Foreward at the top.

The foreward will generally be static, providing some detail on the reason and background for the series (not the target ship class). At least two paragraphs will be included: one will be an honorarium to Neale "Vance" Davidson (d. 25 June 2016), maybe mention his toolkits, and how this series is to honor his own volumes of the SRM. The second paragraph will describe the intent to create/re-create the ship's of Timo's Hobbyist's Guide. Links to both sources would work well within these paragraphs.

The credits will first recognize all artwork as coming from Adrasil, unless otherwise indicated. Writing credits to RevancheRM. Credits for other artists used or inspired by will also be listed. Links to originating sources will follow each credit, if available. The names are underlined. Credits will be divided into two sub-sections: the top covers the permanent credits (Adrasil & myself), while the bottom handles credits associated with the class being presented. That section starts off with the "Name class:" and then the attributions, each preceded by a dash. Example:
- Rick Sternback ("Spaceflight Chronology") provided the original inspiration for this class.
No underlining of names in this sub-section.

Lastly, the boilerplate legalese, adapted from Davidson's version, will be at the bottom of the bordered page.

Contents

This page provides the Table of Contents for the report. This page itself will always be PG 01:02, though the remaining pages will be dynamically-numbered, starting with PG 02:01. By necessity, the page will only be completed once all of the other pages have been numbered. The only pages listed will be the ones that follow the Contents page.

The center column indicates the listed ships' vessel category (ex: "destroyer", "extrasolar exploration vessel", "command cruiser") and should have the text pointer centered on the horizontal column 1505 (as space allows), with "center alignment" selected. When the entry is written, the base of the letter should rest on the vertical row 731.

Fonts & Sizes (all text in all caps):

  • "Contents" (Probert 48 & 36pt)
  • Contents text (550 px, Probert 30pt)

Ship's First Page: Ortho & Data

This page is comprised of two sections: the Image Box and the Data Box. (Neither are named that way within the page.) The Image Box only has one line of text: the name of the variant and the word "class" (or "subclass"/"flight"). The dorsal, profile, and ventral images are aligned along the left "column", centered on that column's midpoint, at 953, starting at the 590px height. The bow & stern views are centered on the right "column" midpoint, at 2057. Images should have 50px separation space vertically between them.

Separating the Image and Data Boxes is a two-px wide divider that has a gap of 48 pixels on either side that keep it from touching the left and right borders. It may be moved in order to provide more balance between the ortho & data sections.

The Data Box will have details specific to that variant in two columns, with the second starting only when the left-most column is full.

Data fields are:

  • Category:
  • Class Operational: (years)
  • Constructed: (number)
  • [space]
  • Dimensions:
  • [indent] Length:
  • [indent] Beam:
  • [indent] Height:
  • [indent] Mass:
  • [space]
  • Performance:
  • [indent] Cruise:
  • [indent] Max:
  • [indent] Endurance:
  • [space]
  • Complement:
  • [indent] Officers:
  • [indent] Enlisted:
  • [space]
  • Tactical:
  • [each listed by system, including shielding]
  • [space]
  • Auxiliaries:
  • [each listed by type]

Fonts & Sizes (all text in all caps):

  • Class Name and "Class/Subclass": Probert 48 & 36pt
  • Data text: Probert 30pt

Ship's Second Page

The Second Page is comprised of two sections: the Registry and the General Information. (Only the latter section is named that way within the page.) The registry will have a boilerplate statement regarding the authorization of the following ships by an appropriation act of the Federation Council. Following that there will be up to three columns of ships, followed by their NCCs.

The General Information section will have the summary as written for it's Deviant Art page provided here.

  • Class Name and "Class/Subclass": Probert 48 & 36pt
  • Text: Probert 30pt

Ship's Schematic

The Ship's Schematic is the blueprint for the target variant. It is in color, rotated 90 degrees (so that the top is closest to the interior side of the page) and re-sized to either a width of 2206px or a height of 3289px, whichever is smaller. It should then be placed so that the height's center is in close proximity to pixel row 3290.

Fonts & Sizes (all text in all caps):

  • "Class Timeline:" and Class Name: Probert 48 & 36pt
  • Data text: Probert 30pt

Class Timeline

The Class Timeline will list all known dates from (or based upon) the lineage provided by The Hobbyist's Guide. It is presented in two columns and may go over one page, if necessary. This is the first page to be marked as PG 03:01.

Fonts & Sizes (all text in all caps):

  • Class Name and "Class/Subclass": Probert 48 & 36pt
  • Data text: Probert 30pt

Class/Starship Comparison Guide

The Class Comparison Guide will have profile views of each variant—in chronological order—aligned from the left border (at 450) and 50 pixels below another ship, with two lines of descriptive text aligned generally with the bottom lines of the ship, starting 50 pixels to the right. When it is a non-variant class, then contemporary ships should be used for comparison.

The two lines of information are:

  • Class name
  • Category (ex: heavy cruiser)

Fonts & Sizes (all text in all caps):

  • "Class Comparison Guide": Probert 48 & 36pt
  • Data text: Probert 30pt

Glossary & Previously Published

This page--initially--will host both the Delta Dynamics Glossary and the list of other publications previously released. As both are expected to increase in size, at a certain point they will be broken out into their own pages. The two sections are divided by a bar 2 pixels in height and stretching from one side bar to the other, but with a 50 pixel gap separating it from the borders.

Each entry for the Glossary will have 45 pixels between the base of the last line (i.e., not counting extensions below the base) and the top of the first letter of the next entry.

Each entry starts on pixel #455 from the left (or 54 pixels from the interior of the left-side black bar).
