Your Google-Fu must be strong for this one:

The last few days I've had what I believe to be a movie quote stuck in my head. In my mind, a minister/pastor/preacher type asks the question, "What is love?" The question is really drawn out and spoken as if the man has a mouth full of cotton, and then proceeds to move into his sermon.

Part of my mind dwells on Four Weddings and a Funeral, but another part of me says its an animated movie.

Help!

It's not the wedding scene from Princess Bride, is it? I seem to recall that the pastor had a speech impediment which would make the words sound like: "What is wove?"

Two really sad things:

1. BB's right. I would have blown it.

2. I didn't even need to google the answer.

That's right, I have no life.

Sadly enough, I DID google it (after Jimmy gave his answer to see if he was right), and that phrase isn't said by the priest. I think "Marwwige" is the word you were thinking of though.

And since the only other movie I could think of that MIGHT have had it was Spaceballs.....I gave up after going throught its transcript too... :p

'Marwwige,' huh? Even now, the word 'wove' is drawn out in my mind. Gives me another excuse to see the movie again.

Special treat: read the book (of the same name) on which it is based. Instead of the grandfather and grandson cut-scenes of the movie, the author talks in the first person to the reader about his discovery of the tale. Very funny stuff.

Marwwige, wove...what fun words.

Have you ever read a series called "The Bandy Papers"? It's about a Canadian boy named Bartholomew Bandy who volunteers during WWI. After some hilarious excursions at the front as an infantryman (one in which he captures his own Colonel) he manages to become a pilot in the RFC.

They are very funny books and well worth the time to read. The author is Donald Jack.

Good lord! there are tons (tonnes, for you, Jimmy) of these books!

Guess I'll be adding them to my Amazon wishlist. Thanks, Jimmy!

Any idea which one is the first one to read? I think Three Cheers for Me might be a good place to start.

Yup, there's lots of Bandy Papers. They appear in this order...

Three Cheers For Me
That's Me in the Middle
It's Me Again
Me Bandy, You Cissie
Me Too
This One's On Me
Me So Far
Hitler vs. Me
Stalin vs. Me

I have up to Me So Far. They are excellent reads.
