The CPLT-CL Catapult was produced by Hollis Incorporated in a limited production run between 2571 and 2573 under a special military contract with the Star League. It was officially classified as a close-support vehicle, designed as a second-line defensive 'Mech with strong offensive capabilities.

Trying to keep pace with the ever changing face of battlefield technology is a demanding job but Hollis Incorporated's Catapult team have kept abreast with all the changes and produced a very successful upgrade for the venerable Catapult fire support Mech.

Advancements in long range missile technology have given the Catapult the ability to shone anew in the field of fire support. Hollis engineers replaced the two 'wing-like' long range missile racks with the new Extra-Long Range Missile launchers, substantially improving the Catapults range. The sheer size of the new racks have meant, however, that teh Catapults secondary weapons have had to be downgraded to a pair of Extended Range Small Lasers, though test pilots have commented that with the missiles new range the lasers rarely have to be employed. Four tons of ammunition ensure that the Catapults launchers will not run dry too quickly.
