• The United States Air Force cancels plans for the launch of its WD-1, a faster-than-light test vehicle.

The actual statement allows for a launch scheduled for 2055, but canceled beforehand. However, the assumption here is that the craft's development failed to proceed far enough to warrant a launch and it was canceled the targeted year.

• The Eastern Coalition formally becomes one nation, subsuming the member states into political regions and retreating within the haphazard recovery processes that define the era known as the Post-Atomic Horror.

• The final edition of the Treaty of San Francisco, formalizing the end of World War III, is signed.

• Copernicus City is founded on Luna.

Year is conjecture, but is presumed to have a college there well before 2078.

• The Vulcans initiate First Contact with the Trill. While limited contact with the Vulcans continues, the Trill government declares contact with other alien species to be forbidden.

• The Tarn begin mining the asteroids of Forge Alpha and constructing a heavy manufacturing complex specializing in starships.
