1.0 Introduction
This is a re-formatted version of Last Unicorn Games’ unpublished ruleset, SpaceDock, as provided by the author Steven Long, with permission by Decipher (who took over the game license). Decipher went on to publish their own construction ruleset, but I have found this system was slightly better.
My changes have been primarily to include some equipment systems published only by Decipher (modified to fit the SpaceDock ruleset) and to incorporate specific years for each release of new technology. Some of the dates come directly from Decipher, some were originally available through LUG’s rules and some are through extrapolation done by myself. Also, the species-specific changes for starship construction (namely, the Cardassians and Klingons) has been added into the appropriate sections.
Hopefully, in spite of my appreciation of printed rulebooks, I will find this system much easier to follow when building my own starship designs. While I hope to come to a point where I can print these rules out and bind them, I suspect that they will truly never be "done".
