To assist the Council in collating and sorting the entries for this project, there are a few tiny guidelines I'd like ya'll to follow:

1. Any ruleset is admissible, as long as the design is a utility/support design- Mechs, vehicles, aerospace, Battle Armor etc. Although this is an exercise to see how the community has been using the Support Vehilce rules from Combat Equipment.

2. The prefered rules level for submission is level 1 or 2. Level 3 designs will be considered on a case by case basis. (Note, that per the Precentor Martial, that units designed with the Standard Construction rules from the Master Rules, but incorporating equipment from Combat Operations are considered Mixed Tech Level 3.)

3. While Custom Tech is not encouraged it will not invalidate a design. Along with the vehicle we will require a full write up on the weapon/equipment in the same format as the weapon information from the CBT Master rules. The more balanced the better.

4. The design should be posted both in the TRO: Heavy Metal Forum as well as on the Heavy Metal Pro Design Forums. As this project originated there, designs from the Heavy Metal forums will be considered sooner (hince the name of the project) but we welcome all comers.

5. Depending on the number of submissions, some good designs may not be included. This in no way reflects badly on those that might be left out. The more original and useful the design the better.

6. In addition, entries may be mailed to vwytche(at)earthlink.net in addition to the posted forums. This will make things a bit easier on the poor fool collating the data. Please put TRO HMSUV in the subject line, and include the Username that you used to register at Heavy Metal Pro. Txt or doc files are the prefered format. If you use any sort of generation program, send the datafile instead, but let me know what program it's for. If you have orginal artwork for the design, that would also be welcome. (The page setup I'm woking on should have enough space for a small picture.) Black and white is prefered over color.

7. Fluff is a necessesity. Let us know who built it and for what purpose. We'll still look over the design if it doesn't have fluff, but fluffed designs will carry more weight with the Council of Five than a non-fluffed.

The other Council members may wish to post further ideas/guidelines or flesh out what I've written, so welcome to the chaos which is this project.

Oh yeah, I forgot the big one. The one rule to bind them as it were:
8. Have Fun!!!!! We all enjoy this game. And, if you made it this far, you must either enjoy designing custom units, want to see your design in a nice PDF form, or just be a sadist by reading all this. We want you to have as much fun designing as we will reviewing all the submissions and seeing what the Community can come up with. Cool

Suggestion for insufficient fluff

Quote:
If a majority of people find that a particular design has insufficient fluff, a writer will be selected to rewrite/add to the fluff.

I know that I, for one, don't really do a good job with fluff. Most of my designs have no more than a paragraph or two outlining the basic functions of the vehicle. A form of writer's block makes writing fluff a literal ordeal for me.

Does this sound good?

As this is supposed to be a TRO-style product a more TRO-style writeup should be in the final production. Good fluff to start with would definately help a design to be accepted, but bad or non-existant fluff will not by itself cause a design to be tossed out of concideration.

Of course not. I was simply outlining a possible method of addressing insufficient or nonexistent fluff (since, as you said, the goal is to have this TRO be as close as possible to the FASA/FanPro publications)

Either the designer writes suitable fluff (first choice) or someone else writes suitable fluff.
