I'm posting pics of what I'm labeling the v 0.018 alpha of StarShip Tracker (SST).

Please understand that I'm doing this more out of excitement of what is to come than to provide you a view of the final product. Mercon and I are still in the planning and development stage, trying to get the product to do the basics of what we want, and we haven't focused at all on practicality or useability at this stage. Hopefully, these pics will give you an idea of where SST is going.

The first:
2D Map Display
This shows one of the 2 selectable map displays. In this case, it shows a far off view of a developing map. You can see a majority of the 42 locations in that database (in this case, all stars). Underneath it, you can see the Location data tab, for which you will enter the specific data for the star (or other object) you wish to put on the map.

The second:
3D Map Display
This pic shows you a working copy of the 3D aspect of the same map, with a Star Trek Constitution class mesh inserted, as an example of ships in 3D. Below it is current version of the Ship entry tab. At this point, the user has already added the Class specific data and is creating individual ships. (Yes, I'm aware the Klingons have no actual Connies in their hands. Wink)

Trademarked ships (such as this) will not actually come with the program, but some free meshes will be available with SST. Universe-specific meshes can be found, in many cases, on the WWW, and hopefully we'll have a few links provided here at New Star Software.

Looking good. Especially if you are calling that the alpha build.

Sweet.

The 2D one reminds me of an old space empire game I used to play.

Do you expect it to change much in format by the end of develpment?

I hope to make it more user-friendly in the interface. Right now, though, we're concentrating on getting it to work as I envision it, bit-by-bit.
