Week one is dedicated to the main aspect of support vees when one thinks of Battletech. Who hasn't felt joy whilst blowing up an enemy J-27? Or had a cold chill run down your spine at the thought of being caught by the enemy while hooked up to a coolant truck? Or simply wished "Darn. It's 250km to the nearest repair bay, our dropship can't land here, and my Mech is shot to pieces. Why oh why can't they come up with a convienient way to repair me in the field?"

Let the designing and posting begin.

We will take submissions on this subject until 10-22-05.

I'll even throw out the first design. If it looks a little familiar, it was included with HMBA.

Code:
††††††††Classic BattleTech Battle Armor Technical Readout
††††††††††††††††††††††††††††VALIDATED

Type/Model:    Scavenger Salvage Armor Mk 73
†††††††††††††††(2 Configurations)
Tech/Era:      Inner Sphere / 3067 / CBT Rules
Chassis Type:  Humanoid, VS Series 4
Weight Class:  Medium Battle Armor (751 - 1,000 kg)
Rules:         Level 2, Standard design

Ground Speed:  21.6 km/h
††Propulsion System:  Ever-cell 440
Armor Type:    Tech-Plate Standard Standard
Manufacturer:  Volks-Smythe Inc
††Location:    Kestrel, FS
Communications System:  ReadyCast 5
Targeting & Tracking System:  TTO-56

==Overview:==
The Mk73 "Scavenger" Salvage Armor is the  first in a series of
support
suits from the armorers at VSi. Based on a medium weight chassis,
the MK73
weighs in at 975kg. It is designed to work with the Model 1097d
GCV. Power
Armor trained  technical staff are still rare, but VSi is offering
reduced
rates for training in either Power Armor piloting or repair.

==Capabilities:==
The Scavenger is designed to assist technicians in the salvage and
repair
of Battlemechs in the field. While it can move at speeds up to
21.6 Kph, it
usually rides in a compatible vehicle. It carries 450kg of
standard armor for
protection. The snub-nosed support laser mounted under the right
arm is geared
towards both self-defense and use as a heavy cutting torch. The
right hand is
encased in a standard basic manipulator, which is capable of
manipulating most
heavy tools. The left arm features a heavy-duty salvage
manipulator. It is
also equipped with a cutting torch and an anti-personnel weapons
mount. The
Scavenger has an advanced sensor suite for encreased detection
capabilites.
There is a shoulder mounted searchlight for night operations. The
storage
compartment on the back can carry up to 25kg.

==Variants:==
The only areas for variations with the Mk73 are the cargo
compartment and
the AP weapon. So far, the weapons of choice for most Scavenger
pilots are
either a combat shotgun or a pulse laser rifle (a third cutting
tool never
hurts.) The most common contents of the cargo compartment are a
basic tool kit
and/or an insulated cooler (containing the operators lunch).

Yes, this is what I'm talking about. Here's a vehicle that needs to be represented.

Ydirbut, can you pump up the fluff a bit, maybe add in some historical mentions where -while they may not have saved the day- played an important role, justifying their expense?

==Overview:==
The Chinook helicopter has sometimes been referred to as "open space with
helicopter wrapped around it." The expression is quite apt, as the vehicle's
16-meter long fuselage is almost 90% empty space. With a maximum cargo load of
25 tons, 10 of which can be stored internally, the Chinook possesses a
transport capacity in excess of even the famous Karnov.
    Another feature that gives the Chinook the figurative leg-up over other
transport aircraft is the twin machine guns mounted in the sides, which give
the helicopter the ability to clear landing zones of enemy infantry when in
combat. The civilian version does not carry armaments, although some mount
water cannons in their place to help fight fires.

While normal M.A.S.H. units set up several miles from the front lines, aid
stations are deployed much closer so they can treat and prepare soldiers to be
transferred further to the rear. Mobility is urgent, especially in the modern
era of jump pack-equipped and mechanized infantry. The aid station can pack
itself up and be on the move within 15 minutes of receiving the order to move
out.

Type 17 Battlemech Recovery Vehicle
Weight -100
Chassis-Tracked 18/Tractor Tons
Tech level -D/X-D-C/C
Engine -64 Tons, Fusion, 7/11
9.5 Tons of Bar 7 Armor, 204 Points
60/50/44
IS-10 points
2 lift hoists, 6 tons (back)

2.5 Crew and stuff

The Type 17 BRV Is capable of moving any Battlemech off the field of combat and towards repair facilities. Itís 64 Ton Vlar fusion engine is incredibly Powerful. It generally operates by using two large cranes on itís back to pull the battlemech onto itís back, where it can be dragged back to base. Additionally, Repairs can be affected while the mech is on the back of the T-17. However, the Concordant fields very few mechs above 75 tons, so the T-17 is not very common. The Type 23 BRV is used instead.

History
The T-17 was introduced by the Taurian Concordant in 2894 in an effort to standardize the then varied Battlemech Recovery Vehicles. It has proven to be a Popular and reliable vehicle, and modified forms of it are used as Prime Movers. Additionally, if things turn grim, it makes a very effective ramming vehicle. For instance, during the battle of Danakil City in 3016, a T-17 managed to effectively neutralize an enemy Awesome.

Cost
1,701,400

Type 23 Battlemech Recovery Vehicle
Weight -75
Chassis-Tracked,Tractor 13.5Tons
Tech level D/X-D-C/C
Engine -48 Tons, Fusion, 7/11
7 Tons of Bar 7 Armor, 154 Points
45/40/30
IS-8points
2 lift hoists, 6 tons (back)
0.5 Crew and stuff

The Type 23 BRV is the standard BRV in the Taurian Concordant. Since the Concordant uses very few mechs above 100 tons, the ability to move these mechs is not a large concern. A 48 ton Magna Fusion powers this beast at over 100 KM/H. Additionally, it can be used as a makeshift prime mover or battering ram.

History
The T-23 was introduced after the enormous cost and weight of the T-17 was realized. While T-17 is still in use, the T-23 is the most common BRV in the Taurian Concordant. It was first deployed in 2906, and has been in continuous service ever since.

Take a look at the standard TROs and see how much fluff is usually in them. That is the general idea I think we are going for.

Also, please stay away from names that may be copywritten. Chinook as an example.

FD-76 Coolant Transport
Code:
          BattleTech Vehicle Technical Readout
                      VALIDATED

Type/Model:    FD-76 Cooler Mk 4
Tech:          Inner Sphere / 3029
Config:        V.T.O.L.
Rules:         Level 1, Standard design

Mass:          30 tons
Power Plant:   130 Galas Lightpower Fusion
Cruise Speed:  97.2 km/h
Maximum Speed: 151.2 km/h
Armor Type:    Star Slab Standard
Armament:
  2 Zippo Vehicular Flamer (Vehicle)s
Manufacturer:  Michaelson Heavy Industries
  Location:    Ruchbah
Communications System:  Johnston Wide Band
Targeting & Tracking System:  OptiSight-12

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
==Overview:==
The Federated Suns was impressed enough by the Kuritan 135-K Coolant Truck to
clone the vehicle for their own armies. Now Michaelson Heavy Industries of
Ruchbah have attempted to go one better by incorporating the features of the
135-K into a VTOL.

The Federated Suns Procurement Office has greeted the FD-76 with mixed
feelings. There are those who applaud Michaelson for innovative thinking and
bringing improved support to the combat units in the field. Others think that
a VTOL is simply too fragile to utilise effectively in such a role and will
only bring about the death of more good pilots.

The jury is out on whether the FD-76 will revolutionise combat unit support.
Until more FD-76's appear in the field no one will know for sure if the
helicopter is a boon or simply another casualty of war.

==Capabilities:==
The Mark 4 Fire Deterrent Class 76 (or FD-76) was based on Michaelson's
existing Sprint Helicopter. The engine was replaced with a 130 Galas which
gives the FD-76 a top speed of 151km/h, more than twice that of it's
ground-based cousin.

Four and a half tons of armor gives the FD-76 nearly the same protection as the
135-K with the obvious exception of the vulnerable rotors. As in the ground
vehicles case, twin flamers have been mounted in a forward position and these
are easily switched to either produce searing gouts of flame or spray coolant
fluid.

Where the FD-76 differs greatly from the 135-K is it's liquid storage tanks.
While it still mounts one 7 ton and one 2 ton tank these are capable of
storing and safely transporting any liquid, meaning that one FD-76 could
transport 9 tons of liquid nitrogen or a mix of liquid nitrogen and liquid
oxygen depending on the need.

==Variants:==
Earlier versions of the FD-76 (Mk's 1 - 3) had different sized storage tanks
or alternate weapon loads. The Mk 1 carried two medium lasers but the heat
generated from insufficiently cooled weapons caused problems with the storage
cooling systems.

==Deployment==
The FD-76 only appears within Federated Suns support units at this time. Fast
units such as the various lancer regiments have been given priority as the
FD-76 can more easily keep up with these forces.

Unfortunately these units have seen little action since the FD-76's joined
their ranks so the VTOL has not yet been truly battle tested.

Federated Suns Fire Services are also looking into purchasing the FD-76 with the flamers permanently hooked into the storage tanks. These would provide superb ability to fight fires, especially in hard to reach locations.

Omni Field Resupply Vehicle

***EDIT: I am re-writing the fluff for this vehicle so that it fits the rules for C3M usage.

Code:
          BattleTech Vehicle Technical Readout
                      VALIDATED

Type/Model:    Omni Field Resupply Vehicle W-Mk 2
Tech:          Inner Sphere / 3066
Config:        Wheeled Vehicle
Rules:         Level 2, Standard design

Mass:          80 tons
Power Plant:   220 DAV Light Fusion
Cruise Speed:  32.4 km/h
Maximum Speed: 54.0 km/h
Armor Type:    StarGuard w. CASE Standard
Armament:
  2 ChisComp 39 Medium Lasers
  2 Mydron Minigun Machine Guns
  1 Guardian Interface Model 2B Guardian ECM
Manufacturer:  Lycomb-Davion IntraTech
  Location:    New Avalon
Communications System:  Achernar Electronics HICK-4
Targeting & Tracking System:  Garret 500S

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
==Overview:==
The advent of the Inner Sphere Omni-Mech brought about a shift in battlefield
tactics. All of a sudden extended campaigns became a lot more feasible as
Mechs could be configured with fewer ammunition dependent weapons if required.
However, rather than improve logistics all the Omni-Mech did was shift the
logistical emphasis from ensuring there was sufficient ammunition to ensuring
that there is now sufficient modular pods. That demand gave rise to the Omni
Field Resupply Vehicle.

The OFRV is essentially a large cargo vehicle with a massive cargo bay
designed specifically for storing and transporting Omni-Mech modular pods. The
OFRV can safely store up to 44 tons of modular equipment in the specially
designed cushioned racks. the racks have Omni-like ports that the equipment
plugs into while being transported to prevent the pods from moving around and
possibly sustaining damage.

==Capabilities:==
The OFRV has undergone many modifications since the first prototype was
displayed but the final design, the W-Mk 2, seems to be the choice of least
resistance. Lycomb-Davion Intratech replaced the original standard fusion
engine with a new DAV 220 Light model in order to save weight for the huge
cargo bay. Additionally the original speed was reduced so the OFRV now only
has a top speed of 54km/h. This is below what was originally intended but
adequate for the role it fills.

One thing the designers refused to compromise on was the defence of the
vehicle. Six and a half tons of Starguard armor with integrated CASE provides
reasonable protection for a non-combat vehicle and the inclusion of a Guardian
Interface ECM suite enhances the OFRV's survival prospects. A turret atop the
large cab of the truck mounts twin Chiscomp Medium Lasers and two Mydron
Miniguns.

The original cargo bay of the vehicle was small in comparison at a mere 15
tons, however the modifications that the designers made have enabled them to
nearly triple to size of the cargo bay to a massive 44 tons. This ensures that
a suitable amount of modular equipment can be transported.

==Variants:==
The only variant to the standard OFRV is the one in the employ of Wolf's
Dragoons. In this case the two medium lasers in the turret have been replaced
with their own Clan ER equivalent. The Machine Guns have also been replaced
with Blackwell Clan-type miniguns which has allowed the Dragoons to double the
number of Machine Guns mounted.

==Deployment==
OFRV's have been bought by all the major Houses who currently field
Omni-Mechs. The only other purchaser of OFRV's have been the Kell Hounds and
Wolf's Dragoons as both have access to Omni technology.

Mobile Armor Patch Tank

Code:

          BattleTech Vehicle Technical Readout
                   * CUSTOM WEAPONS

Type/Model:    MAPT
Tech:          Inner Sphere / 3055
Config:        Tracked Vehicle
Rules:         Level 2, Standard design

Mass:          50 tons
Power Plant:   200 Generic Fusion
Cruise Speed:  43,2 km/h
Maximum Speed: 64,8 km/h
Armor Type:    Various Ferro-Fibrous
Armament:
  1 Armor Sheet Storage*
  1 Armor Patch Arms*
Manufacturer:  Various
  Location:    Various
Communications System:  Various
Targeting & Tracking System:  None

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
==Overview:==
    Mobile Armor Patch Tank was inverted in 3055 when it came apparent that
anti Clan warfare requires a highly mobile approach. This fact meant that
'Mech support would also need to become more mobile.
The MAPT operates close to the frontlines. Its task is to patch any holes or
weak spots in the armor of a 'Mech with simple prefab armor, welded on in an
ugly but functional manner.
These armor patches don't work as well as a proper repair job and need to be
inspected after battle, considering that they aren't properly attached to the
internal structure.

==Capabilities:==
    The armor patch machinery is mostly automated and requires only two people
to operate it. They have their own lasers to precisely cut and weld armor
plating. Armor is stored as flat or curved plates in a large storage section.
Elite Crews have perfected mobile armor patching to such an extent that they
can repair armor while driving at cruising speeds. Crews are also trained to
cut off armor plates from disabled enemy units for later use.

==Battle History:==
    During operation Bulldog, there was one incident of a Battlemech that
walked in to get its armor patched, while it still had an Elemental attached.
This sent the operators in a panic. They aimed the lasers used for cutting and
welding at the Elemental and sliced off its laser arm. The operators didn't
stop firing until the Smoke Jaguar Elemental was sliced in more than a dozen
pieces.

==Deployment==
    MAPTs have been deployed by every Inner Sphere House, however they are
most popular with mercenaries who are quite taken with the capabilities of
these vehicles. The enhanced ability for quick salvage and repairs is more
than enough to justify the cost.

Better late than never. Embarassed

The Sandia Vehicles Roughneck series of rough-terrain wheeled trucks are among the best rough-terrain trucks manufactured across the Inner Sphere. The series consists of 15 basic chassis in every weight class from 10 tons to 80 tons and as much as possible they use common, readily available components.

The foundation of any Roughneck truck is its chassis, all of which are of the strongest construction made with the same high strength materials since the Star League. The vehicle axles have hub-mounted electric motors, capable of regenerative braking, for each individual wheel insuring maximum power where, and when, itís needed most. The number of axles varies with the weight class, the 10 ton design on has two, the 80 ton has nine.

The roughneck truck series all use the same two-man forward cab design unless a customer requests one of the optional cabs: sleeper cabs are quite common. The various chassis all use the same basic electronics package as well.

One feature that sets the Roughneck apart from the pack is its engine design; Roughneck engines are mounted right behind the cab is a packaged power pack for easy maintenance, and removal, if necessary. All thatís required is removing several bolts, disconnecting single power pack wiring harness and disconnecting the fuel lines. A crane can then lift the power pack off the chassis and set a new power pack in position. The entire operation can take less than an hour. An alternate engine type can even be installed, although the instrument cluster needs reprogrammed. Note that since the vehicle empty weight will change when swapping engine types the cargo capacity will change as well.

The power pack engine design may seem like an extravagance but it pays dividends on the production line as well as in the maintenance shop. Roughneck customers are a diverse group and their tastes in engines run the gamut. The power pack concept however means that Sandia can easily build trucks with different types engines on the same assembly line, since they are simply an electrical generator. And that ultimately saves the customer money. Roughneck trucks can also be equipped to operate as stationary generators to feed electrical grids.

Roughneck trucks are designed to be easily adapted to just about any user requirement. Sandia offers a wide variety of packages to outfit the basic chassis with: flatbeds and vans for basic and specialized cargo hauling, Palletized Loader Systems (PLS) for hauling standard cargo containers, dumper beds, ferrocrete mixers, a variety of tanker configurations for hauling anything from liquid nitrogen, to fuel, to water are available, just to name just a few.

Some of the options available on Roughneck trucks include: a central tire inflation system, self-recovery winch, run flat tires, additional fuel tanks and a variety of communication systems. Sandia also offers a wide variety of comfort based options because we know our trucks can often be a driverís home away from home. Perhaps the most popular option is the engine exhaust condenser system. It allows the truck to generate its own water supply from its exhaust and can easily generate enough water to support the two-man driver team in the most arid conditions. Militarized Roughneck trucks are also come equipped with blackout/NVG dashboards and lighting for tactical movement in the combat zone.
